Hi, I’m Tadji

I am passionate about travel, it’s in my blood. I was born in Germany, lived in Colombia as a child, and haven’t slowed down as an adult.  I am inspired by the world, I don’t have time to be cynical, I am too busy embracing the cultural mosaic that makes our planet endlessly fascinating.  I am intrigued by language, by local cuisine, by festival and ritual and also by taking the time to find the rhythm and pace of a place.  Sitting in a café, strolling through a market, or biking a back street, I am a traveler, not a tourist, and that’s the ethos that drives Travels with Tadji.

I was a teacher for many years and while this was a unique, challenging and rewarding experience -it also gave me a great gift – summers free for traveling. I’ve spent the last 17 years exploring the world. I have explored most of Western Europe, sailed the Caribbean and made my way to Asia and the South Pacific.

My other passion is Paris.  As traveling is in my blood, Paris is in my heart. After my first visit, I immediately fell in love with the city of lights. I can’t stop going back and each time I make fresh discoveries. I can spend hours strolling down shop-lined streets, tarrying at cafes and sitting outdoors people-watching while sipping a glass of wine. The city casts a spell on me; it’s inspiring, invigorating and relaxing at the same time. Everything seems possible in Paris. I have come to know the city well but my sense of awe never diminishes.

I’m happily married to the love of my life, sailor extraordinaire, John Kretschmer. Luckily for me, he shares my passion for traveling and seeing the world. John has sailed all over the world and has written five best-selling nautical books. Between the two of us, we have four incredible grown children.
